Joana Sabino Pinto
Dr. rer. nat.
I am a researcher with a strong passion for both immunology and behavioral ecology. My goal is to delve into the fascinating field of disease resistance evolution and make significant contributions to amphibian conservation by manipulating disease outcomes.
To achieve this objective, I am dedicated to expanding my knowledge every day. I believe that learning extends beyond the boundaries of my specific research project, as breakthroughs often arise from seemingly unrelated subjects. By that I mean that I embrace the power of interdisciplinary approaches, recognizing that solutions often reside in the 'gray zones' where different fields intersect. I see the world as a collection of unanswered questions and rely on the scientific method as my trusty tool to unravel them.
Education holds immense power in shaping the future, and I prioritize allocating time in my schedule to assist colleagues and students. In particular, my focus lies on guiding and mentoring students, as I aim to play a role in nurturing the next generation of researchers and future colleagues. I firmly believe that intelligence is not confined to one individual but can be harnessed through constructive discourse and debate. By making myself available for brainstorming and discussions, I aspire to aid students, colleagues, and myself in our continuous evolution.
